THE ARTIST: Ferrera-Balanquet
lives and works in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico and Los Angeles, California.
Ferrera-Balanquet has curated major media arts exhibits in the United States,
Canada, Brazil, Cuba and Mexico, including InteractivA'01 and '03 for the
Museum of Contemporary Art (MACAY), Merida, Yucatan. Mexico, 2001 &
2003. THE PLACE: Join us in Mexico for the summer. Immerse yourself in the colourful and tantalising world of ancient Mayan symbolism. Join the online melting pot of nomadic hybrid culture. THE GAME: Choose your starting point. Travel the virtual territory. Select your border crossing method: legal or illegal... by bridge or water... day or night... enter the game, come face to face with border patrols, helicopters, motorboats and light surveilence systems. experience first hand what it is to risk what you have for what you have not. (* Note: roll your mouse slowly over the landscape) THE STREAM: Traverse the danger and embrace the fact that the grass is indeed greener. A successful crossing will arrive you in a multi-sensory chat where you can compare your truth with others. A visual and aural architecture of pre recorded landscapes and inter-related live performances. (The tour guides will explain the nomadic nature of the culture; characters will present the 'real story' of a border crossing experience etc..) |
